  1. This technique is known as "shimming" not picking. Shimming a lock requires one to put a bit of material between the shackle of the lock and the locking bar. All the locks in this video are low security with only one point of contact for a locking bar (notch on shackle). Better locks have a notch in the other side of the shackle (second point of contact for locking bar) which would require you to manipulate two shims at once. (not impossible but I assume its tricky) or pick the lock itself.
